Artist Profile

Paul Pagk

b. 1962, Crawley, England / Lives and works in NYC.

painting, drawing

Paul Pagk paintings, featuring permutations of a signature geometry - deceptively simple linear structures against monochrome backgrounds - are in part a deep engagement with the very physicality of oil paint, which he makes himself, and applies in many layers. The compositions and geometric structures in his work, which often flirt with volume and perspective before retreating back again to the surface plane, can be understood as attempts to keep himself and the viewer on their proverbial toes. In Paul's words: "I'm trying to get to a place I don't know; then it can capture my attention." Paul’s works for Art Multiple are trompe-l'oeuil images of artwork on the studio wall.
